What’s the best private tracker to download BRRips? This is a question we see all too often in our E-mail inbox. BRRip and BDRip are two relatively new video release types that saw the light after the launch of Blu Ray disk format. These are usually XViD or x264 encoded rips made using a Blu Ray video source. Although not considered as true HD encodes, BRRips usually have a higher video resolution and image quality compared to regular DVDRip releases. In fact, a good BRRip usually has better image quality than even a DVD5/DVD9 DVDR release. Additionally, these often have lesser file size than regular 720p and 1080p Blu Ray encodes (usually 2-3GB as opposed to 4-13GB) and are becoming increasingly popular amongst BitTorrent users with relatively low bandwidth internet connections. While almost every tracker on the planet tracks XViD encoded DVDRip releases, only a select few index Blu Ray Rips. Coming back to the original question, which private tracker has the largest collection of BRRip/BDRip torrents?

If you are looking to download BRRips/BDRips, first tip would be to stop looking in scene only trackers. These are not popular release formats amongst scene release groups and even the best scene trackers such as SCC have only a handful of such releases (SCC only has around 90 torrents). P2P oriented groups on the other hand have had much more success with these formats.

Tracker No. Of Blu Ray Rips Notes
IPTorrents ~4000 The actual number of movies may even be higher as the torrent count includes ~100 movie packs.
Demonoid 2240+ Yeah, Demonoid. Never ceases to amaze :p
RevolutionTT 1700 This includes XvidHD releases by NPW.
TorrentLeech 1550 Finding BRRips on TL is easy. Just browse the NonScene/BRRip-x264 and NonScene/BRRip-XviD categories.
BiTTURK 1450 Home to group D-ZON3 which releases a lot of BRRips
ExtremeShare 960 Signups currently open.
LeechTurk 950
CN 880
LastTorrents 730 Signups open.
TorrentDay 580 Tracks NPW XvidHD releases. Signups open.
PTN 360 Again, the actual number of BRRip movies tracked is a lot higher than 360 as some of these are movie packs.

As you can see from the table above, IPTorrents leads the pack with nearly 4000 BRRip/BDRip torrents. IPT indexes a huge number of releases from SANTi, D-ZON3, JEZZA, Rx, FLAWL3SS (who release non HD rips internally on IPT) and a number of other P2P groups who frequently release Blu Ray rips. Some of you might be surprised not to see specialized movie trackers up in the list – well this is once instance where having access to a huge general tracker pays off (and remember, we’re talking about 2-3GB Blu Ray rips here – thousands of full HD 720p/1080p releases indexed on HDBits, etc were not counted). Speaking of movie trackers, a good niche site to download x264 BRRip releases from is x264.me. This tracker has it’s own internal encoders and has releases not found anywhere else.

If you are looking to download BRRips you now know where to go. Those who still haven’t given this format a try, don’t forget to check it out. While not true HD releases, BRRips have greater video quality and lesser file size. These should be ideal for folks on systems with SD video and/or if you are worried about internet bandwidth. If you know any other torrent sites that track a lot of BRRip releases, feel free to share them here – surely we must have missed some of them :)

    Thanks for sharing the tabular stats information of different trackers.

    BDRip/BRRips are relatively easy to get. You can always try public trackers like:

    http://www.h33t.com
    http://www.kickasstorrents.com

    Good for those can't catch-up with their ratio.

    The best private tracker for brrips/bdrips is rutracker.org. I think it has the largest torrents count in the private tracker world. The interface is russian (sadly no emglish translation available) but it's very easy to search a movie. Just type the name of the movie in the search field (top right of the page) and you'll find the bdrip with lots of seeders. Also, the speed is awesome.

    Misleading. First off what about HD Private sites why didnt you tally these - eg B1T HD TV has over 20k listings. Most download either 720 OR 1080p. Third why class BR RIPs with DVD 9 - LAME! - it almost indistinguishable (and has the same res) of the original BR, but smaller and without the BS zillion stream files.
    The problem with HD is that there aint enough freeleech out there and most sites dont want to accept this - so they languish in inactivity. WHen you download a 1080p encode thats 15 GB and you will never be able to seed back 15 GB with a regular consumer broadband unless you see it back for 1 year! Which means you have to have over 10 TB of storage to keep seeding all your HD movies for over a year. Most of the seeding in the swarm are feed from those with seedboxes. If you mention it in the forums they ban you. So F&^% these sites. They will ALL perish in inactivity. For the past year the BEST in HD content has been IMHO CZ team and Leechers Lair _ TWO Gems. Because they have the most freeleech NEW HD content. And they always have the latest scene releases.

    @wilmark,
    The article talks about BRRips/BDRips that are not true HD (mostly ones encoded using XViD codec). That's why thousands of 1080p/720p listings on trackers were not counted.

    They dont have BDRips xvids anymore, but they have tons of BDRips x264's, along with a bunch of full, untouched BluRays.

    @Team filenetworks:
    There is something wrong about what your article is saying X264 encodes using the BR source is NOT TRUE HD and then saying that in many cases they could be better than DVD9 etc. Every single 1080p x264 encode from major release groups (Eureka, CRHD, Framestor etc, Typically 12 GB) that I have seen (over 1000) are full 1080p as compared with the source (given the reduction due to aspect ratio etc) in could NEVER be compared to ANY DVD file. I have had over 20 full BR rips (typically 40+ GB), and found them to be only slightly better than the x264 mkv files. The only low quality 1080p hd material i have come across is those made for PS3 (typically 3-4 GB per movie in 1080p) are still technically 1080p but with highly compressed frames and lower quality. If you choose the category HD/x264 on 1Pt0rrents you get a bit over 4000 which is what i thought you were talking about. However if you do the same search in HD Torrent sites - you will get much more than 4000, which your article didnt mention. I think your article is very misleading if not wrong about HD/quality/dvd comparison, although i could be wrong.

  13. TEAM FILEnetworks // 6/23/2010 09:52:00 PM

    @wilmark,
    "If you choose the category HD/x264 on 1Pt0rrents you get a bit over 4000 which is what i thought you were talking about"

    No mate. IPT search was specifically for BRRips/BDRips with XVID encodes included.

    "I think your article is very misleading if not wrong about HD/quality/dvd comparison, although i could be wrong."

    I dont think there is anything wrong with this comparison. And I stand by what i said about the quality (this is based on my experience). A properly encoded BRRip usually has better image quality than DVD5/DVD9 - the BRRip is ripped from a superior quality video source (Blu Ray disk) which in almost all cases has true 1080p resolution.

  14. Sara // 6/24/2010 07:50:00 AM

    I agree, a good 720p xvid encode looks way better than a dvd5/dvd9. DVD's are only capable of 480p.

  15. sh00nya // 6/24/2010 09:12:00 AM

    well, this is a useful post. i agree with the filenetworks team that these ~2-3GB B(R/D)Rips have great quality,and from whatever little experience i've had, better than dvd5 and even dvd9 versions of the same film. seems like people are getting confused between the B(R/D)Rips mentioned here with 720p and 1080p true hd rips.
    these ~2-3 GB encodes are a blessing for fellows like me who can not always go for true hd, and yet look for good quality.
    e.g. encodes by cmct and secretmyth fall in this category, and cmct does a wonderful job.i must say that his(?) encodes are the best one can get in the ~2-3 GB size range.
    and yes, rutracker...this one never ceases to amaze me.although it would be difficult to collect the statistics from this tracker, i'm sure it would be in the top 3 regarding B(R/D)Rips.
    oh yes, filenetworks team, i wanted to know how you arrived at the number of rips at demonoid, because in the quality section in the movies category, B(R/D)Rips are not specifically mentioned?

  16. TEAM FILEnetworks // 6/24/2010 09:59:00 AM

    @sh00nya,
    For demonoid we did a simple search for releases that had either BRRip and BDRip in release name. This of course has the drawback of the last count not including improperly named releases.

  17. sh00nya // 6/24/2010 11:26:00 AM

    oh yes...release name!
    i forgot that..
